Restart rules

I have reffed a few games in the league, and I thought it might be useful to flag up a few rules that people seems to be unclear on relating to restarts after goals.

1. if you have put your foot-down immediately before a goal is scored, you do not have to tap-out in the centre.

2. after a goal, even though all 3 players have to return to their d, the scored-on team can cross the half-way line after 2 of the scoring team have gone back to their d.

3. Any member of the scoring team can cross the centre line as soon as they have been back to their d, the opposition has control of the ball, and the ball or a member of the opposition has crossed the centre-line.

Polo Fiasco vs Zombie

Better late than never – a report from Chris:

Zombie United vs. Polo Fiasco

Having finally deciphered my scrawled notes from the evening, here’s the match report.

Played at London’s famous Mitchison Road court, this fixture had a certain air of desperation from the start. Following the changing of the clocks, it was almost certain that the lights would go out before the three games could be played.
Would the games be completed? Had the timer on the lights been changed? Only time would tell…

South Sunday

Three league fixtures this Sunday.  The results:

Cosmic v Polonium 210

5-0
5-0
5-0

La Schmoove V Polonium 210

5-0
5-0
5-0

Polo Fiasco v. Dinosaurs

4-2
5-1
2-1

Not much to report.  The three teams that were expected to win, won.  Dinos put up a heck of a fight, but the shots were finding the BB.

The police came and searched a bunch of us while we were hanging out, looking for knives.  That was exciting and results in oh-so-many laughs.  We also had some visitors from Oxford.  Not much else to say except polo rocks.

Post-Charity Throw-In Tourney!

Great day yesterday. The throw-in tourney was a great success, with great weather, and great tacos. Everyone seemed to have a good time (although there were a few close calls – Todd almost got an eye-implant, and Brian will forever know the strength of Rik and his mallet of Ti!).

From Tomasito of Cosmic (the winners of the stolen trophy):

Lovely tacos, great polo, and the loveliest trophy in polo safely returned. 127 quid raised for Greenpeace -thanks so much everyone, especially Brian for the tacos and some sweet passing and scoring with Pique on our way to victory! Great day.

Some pics of the day from Will below the fold.

League Standings

The league table is now up. And this year there will (hopefully) be more than just myself updating it, meaning quicker results. It’s being updated with Google Documents, so any changes are instant.

I’ve attached the table to this post, but you can also see them at any time by clicking on “Results” above.

Charity Throw-In Tournament!

Although the league has just begun, we have a tournament breaking up the flow already. But in a good way. Here are the details:

The trophy was stolen; the trophy will be returned.

Here is how:

-Throw-in tourney this Saturday (the 19th) at D’ham. 11am mega shuffle, 11:30 games begin.
-5 quid entry, money goes to Green Peace (first charity polo tourney ever? I think this is pretty cool regardless of trophy stuff. It’s a nice change from the polotics). Tom is collecting the cash.
-Brian will be selling tacos! Profits go to Green Peace.
-Apparently the trophy is to be returned after the tourney (so look for the person with a bulging bag) and there are supposed to be prizes.

Additional points

-Max is leaving the country for good (ha! yeah right) on Monday. I have rape paint.
-There have been a shit load of new players starting up in the last few months who are neither in the league, nor have they had a chance to play in a throw-in tourney.  This could be pretty awesome.
-If there’s enough of us, the kids will be afraid.
