Restart rules

I have reffed a few games in the league, and I thought it might be useful to flag up a few rules that people seems to be unclear on relating to restarts after goals.

1. if you have put your foot-down immediately before a goal is scored, you do not have to tap-out in the centre.

2. after a goal, even though all 3 players have to return to their d, the scored-on team can cross the half-way line after 2 of the scoring team have gone back to their d.

3. Any member of the scoring team can cross the centre line as soon as they have been back to their d, the opposition has control of the ball, and the ball or a member of the opposition has crossed the centre-line.

South London ‘Ardcourt Polo vs East London Knights, Sunday 25th October

SLAP 0 – ELK 5 (Ray 1′0″, Jono 6′0″, 7′0″, 8′20″, Ray 8′50″)

SLAP 0 – ELK 5 (Jono 0′32, 1′0″, Ray 3′0″, Jono 4′0″, Ali 5′15″)

SLAP 0 – ELK 5 (Jono 0′53″, Ali 3′13″, Jono 4′48″ Ray 5′15″, 6′0″)

ELK win the match 3-0, grannying SLAP in all 3 games.

The Knights were awesome.  SLAP managed less than 5 shots on goal in the entire match.  ELK out-passed, out-fought and generally out-played SLAP.

SLAP are playing BAD next, but after that Spinal Tap-out.  With both teams yet to score a point, this match is surely their best opportunity yet to get some goals, and perhaps some points.  Check it out at Newington this Wednesday, where SLAP vs ST is part of a quadruple-header.

La Schmoove vs Los Conos, Downham, 24th October

La Schmoove 5 (James Brown 6′05″, 7′15″ Pique 7′55″, 8′27″ JB 14′25″) – Los Conos 2 (Own goal 3′00″ Jo 8′10″)

La Schmoove 5 (JB 5′30″, 6′00″ Cameron 7′39″ JB 8′18″, 12′00″) – Los Conos 1 (Jo 6′17″)

La Schmoove 4 (Pique 4′32″ Cameron 7′34″ Pique 8′09″, 10′55″) – Los Conos 2 (Jo 3′52″, 4″53);

La Schmoove win fixture 3 – 0.

La Schmoove were using Cameron, in his first appearance as a sub in the league.  Based on his performance, I predict that he will be making many more.  He scored a great goal in the 2nd game, a back-shot from outside the d.

A decent crowd, enjoying the last day of British Summer Time at Downham, much enjoyed Los Conos’ sprited defence, and quick-passing in attack.  Sarah Hops was a wall, as always, and Jo and Ali, although not always able to turn their approach play into scoring opportunities, pushed LS hard.  They headed LS for half of the third game, and over 6 minutes in the first.  It’s worth noting that the LS players spread the scoring evenly through their team, disproving any talk that they are the James Brown show.  An exciting, fast and hard match.

BRBPC came to defend. Obviously aware that 3 Beards had rinsed Dinosaurs 5-0 in less than 3 minutes in one of the games in their previous fixture, they parked in their own D, and set to keeping the Beards out. Read more »
