From dt:
Sunday 6th December, Newington
Game 1: 0-5
After draining the court from rainfall cone-by-cone and waiting for hung-over Louis to arrive, they’re ready to start. Jo gets to the centre spot first, but leaves the ball for Tom, who then leaves the ball for Ali. Ali takes the ball and gets the first goal of the game at 13 seconds!
Jo and Ali take it in turns scoring each minute – Jo at 1’17”, Ali at 2’57” and Jo again at 3’43”. Polonium get a couple of great breaks and test Sarah at the other end of the court. Tom comes very close to scoring, forcing Sarah to come out and challenge for the ball.
Louis seems to be playing slightly gentler today, not his usual bull-charging style! Well, this is until he leans a little to hard on Ali, forcing them both down hard. All players wait for Ali to straighten her bars, re-align her brake and get back on her bike before carrying on with the game. Ali then takes the final goal of the game at 6’12” making it 0-5.

From Otters:
Game 1
Dan wins the charge, takes it round T&J and pops it through Adrienne’s BB in 8 seconds. 1 – 0
Fiasco gain composure and Josh equalises after 1”44 1 – 1
Tony and Josh are passing well, BRBPC blocking and hustling, Tony puts Fiasco ahead at 4”10 1 – 2
There’s a lot of back and forth, cracking shots from Tony; there’s a giant pause at the top of his back-swing when time seems to stand still, before he lets fly. All to no avail. Matt, Dan and Roxy are swapping out and working hard. Dan makes it level again dead on 10 minutes. 2 – 2
Tony puts Fiasco back in the lead again a minute later. 2 – 3
There is a goalmouth scramble with lots of footdown, Josh is at full stretch but fails to put a static ball over the line.
In the last 30 seconds Dan has at least 4 shots, all of which ricochet off Adrienne’s wheels.

From Emmet:
West London meets itself and despite the light hearted nature of western play there is a sense from both teams to achieve beyond their performance to date. Hurlingham park is a buzz with sporting prowess and rugby hearts, but little attention is payed to that corner of the field where polo breathes.
