Restart rules
I have reffed a few games in the league, and I thought it might be useful to flag up a few rules that people seems to be unclear on relating to restarts after goals.
1. if you have put your foot-down immediately before a goal is scored, you do not have to tap-out in the centre.
2. after a goal, even though all 3 players have to return to their d, the scored-on team can cross the half-way line after 2 of the scoring team have gone back to their d.
3. Any member of the scoring team can cross the centre line as soon as they have been back to their d, the opposition has control of the ball, and the ball or a member of the opposition has crossed the centre-line.
All the league rules are here: http://www.londonbikepololeague.com/rules/.

Thanks for clarifying this, but Bill, making player ‘A’ tap out twice for unintentionally crossing the half way line during the **** game was taking rules too far in my opinion, Reffing & penalising for the sake of it. He hadn’t gained possession, so what is wrong with him simply circling round and going back to his half when he realised his mistake rather than being forced to tap out twice!

Sorry, just thought I’d take the ref argument here rather than on the fixtures page

First, I made him tap once, not twice.
Second, I thought it was fair because by crossing the line early, he had impeded Jonny Mac’s progress (he turned to shield the ball). By taking Ali out of Johnny’s way, I was a. allowing Johnny Mac to regain the position he was in before Ali cross, and b. penalising Ali for foul play.
Oh, and did I mention c. the ref is always right, even when s/he is wrong?

And if it was unintentional or not, it was still a foul.
