Cosmic vs WONA

First fixture of the new league, and, without upsetting anyone, I’d like to say the first upset of the new season. Cosmic3 took on the newly formed “What’s Our Name Again?” and the first game ended with a win for WONA on time – final score 3-2. Ray described it as:

The first game was a bit slow to start with as we started without playing any throwins. But the game started and we drew first blood. Then it was constant to and throwing of goals at either end each time with us taking the lead. We were scoring lots of funny deflections…then time was called and we had found ourselves in the lead woop!

The second game gave Cosmic something play for and Tom scored some great goals to bring them back into the fight for the fixture with a final score of 4-1. Again, Ray described it as such:

And back on court we swapped ends and 321 polo… I think again jono scored the first goal and this like the 3rd game was lots of midcourt and defensive play from us. We were hoping to catch the cosmic boys on the break but we eventually got caught out by some awesome shooting by tom and a bit of a lack of focus from me.

By the third game Cosmic had warmed up completely. Although the match started off with a confused rush from Cosmic (they were in the middle of a team chat and no one made it off the starting line for the joust) and Yorgo’s lovely off court assist by talking with Mat while in goal, allowing WONA to score. However, a quick succession of goals brought the game up to 4-1 again, and with about 20 seconds left, the fifth goal was found, giving Cosmic a 5-1 win.
